Dr. Elsa Schneider (Unknown - July 1938) is the main female character in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. She is first seen when Indiana Jones and Marcus Brody arrive in Venice. She had a relationship with Indiana Jones and he was very unhappy when she betrayed him and showed her true loyalties to the Nazis. Dr. Elsa Schneider was helping Walter Donovan to find the Holy Grail, but she had a change of heart and purposefully chose the wrong Grail for Donovan, which killed him. When she crosses the Great Seal with the Grail, the Grail Temple collapses and causes a deep chasm in the ground. In the movie, the Grail fell on a ledge, and she tried to reach for it with one hand with Indy desperately holding the other. When the glove on the hand Indy was holding slipped, Schneider fell into an abyss to her death.

Dr. Elsa Schneider is a playable character in the LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures video game. She helped Indy to find Sir Richard's tomb in order to get clues to where the Holy Grail might be and the whereabouts of his father who had gone missing while searching for it. They managed to find the tomb of Sir Richard in Venice. But they were also attacked by the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword, that was a brotherhood that protected the Grail from ever being found. Indy and Elsa had to fight Kazim, a member of the brotherhood who tried to kill them. Indy defeated him but he also saved Kazim's life by taking him away from his destroyed boat that was about to be destroyed by a ship's propeller. After he had been saved, Kazim told Elsa and Indy where his father was being held: at Castle Brunwald. Indy and Elsa travelled to there and were almost stopped by the castle's butler even though they had disguises; but Indy knocked him out with one quick punch. They ventured through the castle, avoiding the Nazis that was holding Indy's father there. They found him in a protected room; but Colonel Vogel happened to be in the room too and he took Elsa as a hostage so that Indy would have to give him the Grail Diary that they had been trying to get from Henry Jones Sr.. Indy gave him Vogel the diary and Elsa was revealed to be working for the Nazis and Vogel just pretended to hold her hostage in order to get Indy to give him the diary. Indy was shocked to find out this but Elsa really seemed to have feelings for him as she kissed him before leaving the castle.
Indy and Elsa met again after he managed to escape from the castle, dressed up as a Nazi and attended a book burning rally. He made her give him the grail diary back. She was later seen with Donovan in his car when they were in the Republic of Hatay trying to find the Grail Temple. They later found it and she was with Donovan when he shot Henry Jones Sr. but she didn't work with Indy to find the Grail. Instead, when Indy had found it, she charmed Marcus Brody who had the Grail at that time and stole the Grail from him. But as the Grail isn't allowed to leave it, the temple collapsed and she fell down into a deep chasm along with the grail and was presumably killed when she hit the ground.
