In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy is chased by these South American natives, called Hovitos. After Belloq retrives the idol and Indy escapes they did not manage to kill him.Belloq sends them.

The Hovitos appear in the game as a generic character called Hovitos Tribesman. When encountered in a level they wield either spears or a crossbow, but when you play as the character only the spear is available, but they are not in temple escape as showed in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
